Congratulations to Public Works Superintendent Larry Larson and City Engineer Kevin Nielsen,
City of Marysville co-Employees of the Month for January 2005!
Congratulations to Public Works Superintendent Larry Larson and City Engineer Kevin Nielsen, who were named City of Marysville co-employees of the month for January 2005.
Larson and Nielsen were credited with doing a masterful job of keeping the Public Works Department functioning smoothly for eight months until the January hiring of Public Works Director Paul Roberts, in addition to carrying on with their own daily duties managing staff in their respective divisions.
During their shared turns at the helm:
Larry and Kevin kept communications intact between Public Works staff, the Finance Department, City Council, as well as the Human Resources and Executive departments.
Larry Larson has been with the City of Marysville for 13 years, and during that time has amassed extensive knowledge about the city’s public works and utilities infrastructure. Larry and his wife, Pam, just bought a home in Bothell. Larry has three children, two of whom live at home. Larry and his family have been involved in sports. His daughter, Robin, graduated from Florida State University where she played softball. Larry was very instrumental in getting her softball career started, spending many hours on the field coaching. Larry could make talent scouting a side career – it’s not unusual to find him watching a high school softball game on his way home from work. Larry spends vacations in Florida, where his oldest son resides.
Kevin Nielsen joined the City in June 2001. Kevin’s insatiable sense of humor, and the intensity and professionalism he brings to his job, are a great asset to Marysville city government. Kevin lives in Mill Creek where he and his fiancĂ©e, Angela, recently bought a new home. Together they have two daughters, Lacey and Joslin. The family enjoys boating, jet skiing, snowboarding, dirt-biking, the Mariners and the Seahawks. The family takes many vacations to Montana to visit his parents and take advantage of the open space to share in their many outdoor recreational hobbies.
