Kids, lace up for the 20th Annual Turkey Chase Fun Run Nov. 21

Get your Thanksgiving holiday off on the right foot - participate in the 20th Annual Turkey Chase Fun Run (Course #5263)starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at Jennings Memorial Park Ballfield, 6915 Armar Road. All entrants Kindergarteners to 5th graders will receive a special Turkey Chase T-shirt and earn chances to win prizes in a random drawing. Advanced registration required by Friday, Nov. 6. Entry fee is $10. Registration forms at the Parks Office in Jennings Park. Donations for the food bank will be accepted. For more information call Marysville Parks and Recreation at (360) 363-8400.

City Council adopts 2010 City Budget
The City Council on Nov. 16adopted a lean, no frills The preliminary budget is $118.3 million budget that will fund essential services while continuing as best as possible to focus spending on the City's key priorities of public safety and street improvements, as the year inches toward economic recovery. The General Fund for covering basic services is $34.1 million, which includes $3.9 million to support the newly-annexed Central Marysville Annexation area, with funds derived primarily from a state sales tax credit that the City will receive in 2010.

City Council approves Central Marysville Annexation
The Marysville City Council on Nov. 16 voted 6-1 to approve the Central Marysville Annexation, effectively incorporating the community's entire urban growth area. Annexation of the UGA brings 2,846 acres into city limits, and could increase the population from 37,060 to 57,000, making Marysville the second-largest city in Snohomish County. After a mid-December census of the largely residential area, the annexation will become effective on Dec. 30.
