City Council
adopts 2010 City Budget The City Council on Nov. 16 adopted a lean, no frills The preliminary budget is $118.3 million budget that will fund essential services while continuing as best as possible to focus spending on the City's key priorities of public safety and street improvements, as the year inches toward economic recovery. The General Fund for covering basic services is $34.1 million, which includes $3.9 million to support the newly-annexed Central Marysville Annexation area, with funds derived primarily from a state sales tax credit that the City will receive in 2010. Central Marysville Annexation
becomes effective on Dec. 30; door-to-door census begins, or
call Marysville Census Hotline The Marysville City Council in November voted to approve the Central Marysville Annexation, effectively incorporating the community's entire urban growth area. Annexation of the UGA brings 2,846 acres into city limits, and could increase the population from 37,060 to 57,000, making Marysville the second-largest city in Snohomish County. The annexation took effect on Dec. 30. A door-to-door census of the largely residential area is under way, with the population count critical to ensuring that the City will receive its fair and equitable share of state funding for citizens. Those residing within the newly-annexed area will be visited by a census worker wearing a florescent vest and ID badge between Jan. 1 and Feb. 19, but you can also provide your census information at any time by call the Marysville Census Hotline at (800) 635-6594 24 hours a day. |
